Atomic arrangements in an amorphous CoFeB ribbon extracted via an analysis of radial distribution functions

We discuss the atomic structure of amorphous ferromagnetic FeCoB alloys, which are used widely in spintronics applications. Specifically, we obtain pair-distribution functions for various pairs based on high-energy x-ray diffraction data taken from an Co20Fe61B19specimen. start our reverse Monte Carlo cycles to determine disordered with a two-phase model small amount cobalt is mixed Fe23B6as second phase. The alloy found be heterogeneous, where boron atoms drive disorder through random occupation network. Our analysis also indicates presence clusters that embedded iron matrix and percolating latter throughout structure. This morphology can explain enhanced spin polarization observed magnetic materials.
